Local TV Stations Now All On Broadcasting In Digital

Switch Now, Better Reception, More, Channels, Added Features.

Ways To Switch, Options

1. Get a new or used TV with a digital tuner, those made and sold since March of 07 equipped correctly. No extra expense needed with this type set. Can be High Definition or standard TV...see explanation elsewhere.

2. Operate your broadcast reception thru cable or satellite reception. no change necessary in your TV set, nor nothing for you to do at all if already on these services.

3. Get a set top converter box that converts digital off antenna signals to digital. Government will help buy two for your home. Small percentage may need better antenna.

4. Battery operated TV sets may be worthless after June 12th, 2009 since no battery operated converter boxes seem available that are feasible.

On June 12, 2009 (extended from the original February 17th, 2009 date), all full-powered local stations will shut down their old analog transmitter and signals. The only thing left on will be digital. If you have not obtained a newer Digital TV, a digital converter box or a pay TV subscription to watch "broadcast" network type television you will no longer receive over the air type broadcast TV.

You will still be able to play tapes, DVD, games etc on your old Television sets. Therefore, the conventional TV you have been using, do NOT become worthless, they just no longer receive broadcast TV and many bedroom TV's etc were not used for that anyway.

Surveys indicate that many consumers, particularly minorities and the elderly, are confused over how to prepare for the switch.

We are telling you how to switch now, why wait until transition day, no need to lose your TV signals.

The aim of this Jacobsen publishing site is to provide all the information needed for your easy digital switchover.

Digital TV and the switchover has already happened and your neighbors are likely already watching it. There are benefits, not just hassle, and this includes more choice of channels and in a lot of cases a much better quality of picture.

If you don't have satellite or cable packages then it is most likely that you currently have an old standard analog signal which you use to receive your TV channels.

This likely still works fine at the moment but when your area changes over totally by pulling the switch on all but digital TV you will no longer be able to receive TV unless you have upgraded and purchase a set top box or a TV with digital hardware built in, switched to cable etc.

By purchasing either satellite or cable service you will be able to receive digital TV channels on your present TV much in the same way as you previously received analog TV channels.

The other option is to upgrade your TV set to a new one which has built in digital turner and in turn remove the necessity of purchasing a separate set top box.

The government contributes to a set top converter box but NOT to a new TV with digital tuner.

You do not need to wait for any start date, the digital broadcasting is ALREADY on locally, you can switch today.

That should tell you the basics of what you need to know. Here are pages on MORE information on details.
